Antique suit of armor from the Edo period with/ JUYO (important cultural reference asset) Paper

A quality antique samurai armor from Momoyama to the early Edo period (1500-1600s). Still in excellent condition. The Gomaido cuirass consists of 5 divided iron plates, which give the whole cuirass a striking appearance. The Kabuto helmet is composed of 62 separate iron plates, each with its own specific proportions. When joined, they result in the perfectly formed kabuto seen here. Kabuto features white yak hair and a wooden headerboard depicting Sankosho, a traditional vajra pestle believed to be a good-luck charm among warlords in ancient Japan. Many Sankosho items are now stored in various Japanese history museums. There is an inscription on the inner side of the helmet, which means a signature of the armory IEHISA 家久, attributed to Saotome Iehisa, one of the most reputable armory families in 1300-1700. The highest certificate, JUYO Kicho Siryo, or “(important cultural reference) granted by the Japanese Armor Society, a.k.a The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armor, comes with. According to the Japanese Armor Society, this is the highest-ranking (1 of 5) certificate they can issue for armor in Japan as a private institution. There is a possibility that this armor could be registered as an “important cultural asset” by the Japanese government in the future. If so, this item will go to museums and will no longer be available on the global market.

Helmet: 64 hand-spliced iron bowl with wooden board featuring Sankosho vajra pestle wishing for victory. White Yak hair on top.

Menpo Mask: Brown lacquered iron mask with neck guard finished with leather rims.

Kote sleeves:Brown lacquer-painted iron plates and chain mail on silk clothing

Haitate Thigh Guard: Silk clothing and iron plates

Sune-Ate leg guards: Black lacquered metal chainmails and iron/leather plates

Yoroi-Hitsu storage box: wooden box
