Antique suit of armor Edo period w/ great Maki-e finish on Cuirass
A quality antique armor from mid Edo period (1700's). Iron cuirass is coated with genuine lacquere painting and finished with a beautiful dragon Makie gold/silver relief. The Akoda style helmet is composed of 64 separate iron plates, each with its own specific proportions. When joined, they result in the perfectly formed kabuto seen here. Helmet features a pair of stunning wooden side-horns. The original storage box, display stand, and all pieces shown in the catalogue come with. Fukikaeshi, ear guards have Maru Katabami crest that has been used by many samurai shogun families including Sakai Tadatsugu and Chosokabe Motochika, and Toudo Takatora between Warring States to Edo shogun periods.
The Upper fabric parts of the knee guard of right foot is heavily damaged. We do offer professional repair by our skillful artisans with a fee, if you prefer.
