Throughout Japanese history, red-hued Yoroi have come to represent the noble attributes of “honor” and “valor.” One can find numerous tales and accounts of red-clad warriors, staking their honor and their lives in single combat, leading pivotal attacks, and making valiant last stands. Those who don the red armor become part of a greater tradition, one shared with famous warlord clans such as Takeda, Ii, Sanada, and Maeda. This very armor’s tradition was referenced, once again, when it was featured in the recent Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe film, “The Last Samurai.

Principal parts of this set are made of iron. The quality craftsmanship of our artisans can also be appreciated in the intricately crafted chainmail sleeves and Haitate thigh-guards. Whether a fan of history or films, this armor is an incredible, wearable work of art and will arrive in a beautiful, black-lacquered wooden storage box that doubles as a display stand for your Yoroi.

The word "Go Forth" on the box.
The Japanese character painted on the storage box is Zen (前), which means “Go Forth” in English. This word comes from the Kuji-Kiri mantra of victory, which samurai warriors have intoned in formal ceremonies before going to battle.

Custom Sizing
Our armors are designed to fit average Japanese adults up to 175 cm (5 3/4') tall, with a chest circumference of up to 41" (105 cm). If you need a larger size, we would be happy to offer you our custom sizing option to ensure the perfect fit. A slight fee (up to 25% of the listed price) may be charged, depending on your measurements. It will take 1 to 2 additional weeks to complete a custom-sized suit of armor. If you need custom sizing, please get in touch with us to request a price quote before purchasing. You need to fill in your key measurements, such as height, chest circumference, waist, and head circumference, to request a price quote for a custom order. 

Custom Color Scheme:
We would be happy to offer you the option to change the color scheme of the lacquer finishes and/or braid lacings on your Yoroi. If we carry the color you want in our stock, the change is absolutely free.
