Antique Wakizashi sword in Ornate Mounting
NBTHK Hozon (Well Preserved) certificated
Swordsmith: KANETSUNE

The blade less than 60cm are categorized as WAKIZASHI apart from "Katana". This is very magnificent and beautiful WAKIZASHI medium-length blade by the smith KANETSUNE located in Seki, Minoh in late Muromachi era, 1500's. The inscription of the smith name is engraved on the blade tang. This wakizashi blade used to be a long-handled sword Naginata. It was painstakingly re-made from Naginata and turned out to be an easy-to-use Wakizashi mid blade. So the blade is in a very unique and elegant shape. This quality item is offered from our Yokohama Sword Store. Finished with a beautiful waved (Gunome) tempered-line pattern. The blade is registered as Hozon paper "Very well preserved blade" by NBTHK (Japan Sword Preservation Society) that is given to the well-preserved sword with artistic value. The blade comes in a complete ornate mountings including very beautiful open-work hand-guard.
