Antique suit of armor made by SAOTOME IETOSHI from Mid Edo period w/ Koshu Tokubetsu-Kicho Paper (2nd highest ranking) Certificate

A quality antique samurai armor made by Saotome Ietoshi, from mid Edo period (1700's). Cuirass consists of 2 divided iron plates finished with very detailed Honkozane hand-spliced small iron pieces and hair-spread dark green silk braid lacings. An original flag featuring Hinomaru comes with. Flag and pole are removable from the body armor. Kabuto helmet is composed of 62 separate iron plates, each with its own specific proportions. When joined, they result in the perfectly formed kabuto seen here. On the inner side of kabuto, there is an inscription by Saotome Ietoshi who is one of the most reputable and famous armor makers in Edo period. Kabuto features a Japanese crest Mitsu-Domoe, which has been used by many warlord families in Japan.  Brass beetles on helmet have stunning engravings. A great certificate comes with this item: Koshu-Tokubetsu Kicho paper that is the 2nd ranking certificate among 5 certificates granted by The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armor. (Top top-ranked certificate is just for a museum-class heritage item). Two storage boxes covered with leather covers, display stand (new), and all pieces shown in the catalogue come with. There are also Mitsu-Domoe crests painted on both sides of each box.
